Open Society Institute currently seeks: Junior Policy Officer

The Open Society Institute (OSI) is a private operating and grantmaking foundation created in 1993 by investor and philanthropist George Soros. OSI aims to shape public policy to promote democratic governance, human rights, and economic, legal, and social reform. The Roma Initiatives Offices (RIO) provides guidance and coordination to all aspects of network programming and grant-making activity related to Roma beneficiaries, including work undertaken by network programs and national foundations. The Junior Policy Officer will be responsible for providing both substantive and administrative support to the RIO Director and to the Senior Policy Officer in all aspects of their work. He/she will report directly to the Director. Responsibilities: · Support for the development of Roma civic alliances · Support for implementing the RIO fellowship program · Coordination of reports and publications · Support for web updating and knowledge management · Administrative support to RIO staff, including travel arrangements, logistical arrangements for meetings and budgeting · Ability to assume work-related responsibilities outside office hours and free to travel Requirements: · University degree · Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the Romani non-governmental sector · Experience of national and international advocacy related to Roma · Excellent communication, research and writing skills in English and at least one other Central and Eastern European language. · Working knowledge of Romanes would be a distinct advantage Salary commensurate with experience.
