Vacancy at the South East European Research Centre, Thessaloniki,Greece JOB TITLE: Director Reference: DIR-HR06 For a detailed job description, please refer to http://www.seerc.info CITY Liberal Studies and the University of Sheffield wish to appoint a Director of the South-East European Research Centre. In 2003, CITY Liberal Studies and the University of Sheffield jointly established the South-East European Research Centre (SEERC), a multidisciplinary, international, non-profit research centre and think tank, in Thessaloniki. SEERC’s mission is to support the sustainable, long-term political, economic, and social development of South-Eastern Europe by conducting pure and applied research and policy analysis in and for the region. DIRECTOR, SEERC The candidate will be expected to: · Demonstrate a capacity to develop a vision for the research future of SEERC. · Generate external grant income from research councils and other prestigious funding bodies to support research activities. · Provide research leadership through development and facilitation of productive research clusters. · Drive the preparation of research bids (government, charitable/international organisations, EU (FP6-FP7 bids) etc.) and the organisation of SEERC conferences and events. · Oversee project management of funded research projects and also the dissemination of research findings to policy-makers, academics and practitioners. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience: § PhD in appropriate subject areas (ideally Economics and/or Social Sciences); candidates with Master’s degree and extensive related experience will be considered. § Proven ability to fulfill a leadership role and manage staff. § Ability to create and sustain networks and provide support for less experienced staff. § Extensive and successful experience in doctoral training and supervision. § Excellent communication/negotiation and interpersonal skills. § Excellent command of English. The appointee will be evaluated according to the following criteria: Programme Management & Planning, Understanding of the South-East European region. Funding track record as well as on proven Leadership, Networking and Coordinator qualities. Salary Range: From 50000-57000 EURO per annum/From 30000-38000 British pounds per annum.
